About Me

My photo
Lucy Namayanja
Born in 1978 in Kampala, Uganda, I am an interdisciplinary artist whose work encompasses painting, drawing, sculpture and installation art. I always credit my architecture and interior design course which introduced me to art, through sculpture, life drawing, wallpaper and photography. I earned my diploma at Cavendish Collage London, 2011. I developed an appreciation for cloths, fabric and nature from an early age. I have taken my own personal experiences from Uganda and have added them to individual, cultural and collective experiences of the world. Lucy Namayanja's art is distinctive and significant focusing on industrial and natural materials using their symbolic associations to explore themes of race, sex, play, protest and social justice.
